The Futsal League - Division 1 new season got underway on Tuesday evening in Sha Tin Racecourse Sports Ground, with Sai Kung going head-to-head against Tuen Mun. Sai Kung came back from being a goal-down, fired six unanswered goals past Tuen Mun and eventually defeated its opponent 6:1.

Tuen Mun started the game positively and had successive chances to open the score, yet Cheng Hon-fung and Ng Chun-yin both fired their respective shots over the Sai Kung crossbar.

Tuen Mun duly went in front on the 7th minute, as Leung Kam-Po shook off his markers and pulled the trigger from the middle, putting his side in front.

Sai Kung did not hold back and went for the equalizer afterwards. On the 12th minute, Lung Tin-pak gave chase to a teammate’s long pass, then beat the Tuen Mun keeper to the ball and tucked it home in style. The game was now tied at 1:1.

On the 13th minute, Tuen Mun failed to clear away a Sai Kung corner-kick. Lin Chi-shing showed great awareness and fired the ball home, putting Sai Kung in front 2:1.

Sai Kung was not done and continued to hit Tuen Mun hard. On the 18th minute, a Tuen Mun player committed the team’s sixth foul of the first half. The referee duly awarded Sai Kung with a second-penalty-kick. Tsoi Ngai-ngai assumed the spot-kick duty and drilled the ball home. The score was now 3:1 with Sai Kung ahead.

Late in the first half, a slick build-up play between Sum Ngai-kuen, Wong Yu-hin and Ng Chun-yin saw the latter finding the back of the net for Sai Kung. Sai Kung was up 4:1 at half time.

The game largely remained in Sai Kung’s favor in the second half. On the 27th minute, Tsoi Ngai-ngai shook off tight pressure from the Tuen Mun defense, spun-and-fired and scored, making it 5:1.

Approaching the end of regulation time, Lam Chun-hung made a great run down the flank, then smashed the ball home, extending Sai Kung’s lead to 6:1.

The final score was 6:1 on the evening, as Sai Kung came back from a goal-down to beat Tuen Mun, kicking off its new season in tremendous fashion.
