Kwoon Chung Southern and Eastern Long Lions squared off on Friday evening for a tasty clash in the BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League. Eastern Long Lions scored five unanswered goals past Kwoon Chung Southern on the occasion and shutout the Hong Kong Island side by 5:0.

Eastern Long Lions took the lead early in the game with a simple set play. On the 6th minute, Everton Camargo delivered a swirling corner-kick towards the Kwoon Chung Southern doorstep. Eduardo Praes soared high, beat everyone to the ball and nodded it home with ease. Eastern Long Lions were up 1:0.

It was still Eastern Long Lions afterwards. On the 12th minute, Lucas Da Silva whipped a dangerous cross deep into the Kwoon Chung Southern box. Alessandro Leonardo took up great position at the back-post but sent his header wide off target.

Eastern Long Lions were dominating the match and doubled its lead on the 21st minute. Jared Lum unloaded a spectacular low drive from outside the Kwoon Chung Southern penalty area. The ball hit the goal-post and snuck into the net. Eastern Long Lions were up by 2:0 at this point.

Moments later, Eastern Long Lions continued with the pressure and threatened the Kwoon Chung Southern goal again, yet Everton Camargo’s long range shot narrowly missed finding the intended target.

Kwoon Chung Southern came up with a rare scoring chance on the 34th minute. Paco Chan’s centering pass was cleared away by the Eastern Long Lions defense. The ball reached Pedro Mendes outside the penalty area, yet the latter smashed the ball way off target.

On the 42nd minute, Eastern Long Lions came close to making it 3:0. Wong Tsz-ho found daylight on the left wing and belted a dangerous shot towards goal, only to be paved away by Kwoon Chung Southern goalkeeper Tse Tak-him. Jared Lum tried to convert the rebound but fired the ball high.

Eastern Long Lions widened its lead on the 44th minute, as Lucas Da Silva picked up the ball inside the Kwoon Chung Southern penalty area through a teammate’s lovely diagonal pass. The burly striker took care of the rest and fired the ball home, making it 3:0 for Eastern Long Lions in the process.

Eastern Long Lions started the second half strongly and quickly scored again. On the 52nd minute, Everton Camargo’s forward pass found Alessandro Leonardo inside the Kwoon Chung Southern penalty area. Leonardo calmly rounded goalkeeper Tse Tak-him, then coolly tucked the ball home. The score was 4:0 with Eastern Long Lions firmly in control.

Kwoon Chung Southern generated a rare chance to get on the scoreboard on the 65th minute. Captain Shu Sasaki had control with the ball on the left side of the Eastern Long Lions box. The Japanese schemer then unleashed a tasty curling shot towards goal but narrowly missed finding the target.

Eastern Long Lions almost pulled further away on the 78th minute. Wong Wai delivered a teasing corner-kick to the Kwoon Chung Southern goal-mouth. Leung Kwun-chung sent a leaping header towards goal, only to be cleared away by an opposing player.

On the 88th minute, Everton Camargo fired a fantastic strike from the top of the Kwoon Chung Southern penalty area, making it 5:0 in the process.

The 5:0 score stood towards the final whistle, as Eastern Long Lions comfortably defeated Kwoon Chung Southern on the evening.
