Tin Shui Wai Pegasus and BC Rangers met up in Hong Kong Stadium on Sunday afternoon for the first BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League fixture of the day. A second-half double by Marcos Da Silva led Tin Shui Wai Pegasus past BC Rangers through a 2:0 victory.
BC Rangers had great chances to open the score early in the game. On the 6th minute, Yiu Ho-ming had all the time in the world down the left side before knocking the ball towards the middle. Lam Hok-hei dished out a tasty header from doorstep but was turned away by Leung Hing-kit in the Tin Shui Wai Pegasus goal.
Barely a minute later, BC Rangers was at it again. This time, Lam Ka-wai’s teasing free-kick from the right wing picked out Lam Hok-hei inside the Tin Shui Wai Pegasus box. Lam leapt high and sent a dangerous header towards goal. However, Tin Shui Wai Pegasus goalkeeper Leung Hing-kit got a hand on the ball, the ball then rung off the crossbar and stayed away from the back of the net.
Tin Shui Wai Pegasus came up with its first scoring chance of the game on the 12th minute. Sun Ming-him floated a centering pass towards the middle. Tse Long-hin applied a half-decent header but could not locate the intended target.
Close to the twentieth minute mark, Tin Shui Wai Pegasus came up with back-to-back scoring chances, yet Kessi Dos Santos’ long-range shot and Jose Dos Santos’ close-range header were both easily handled by BC Rangers goalkeeper Oleksii Shliakotin.
On the 35th minute, BC Rangers veteran Lam Ka-wai unloaded from just outside the Tin Shui Wai Pegasus penalty area but could not locate the intended target with his shot. The score was 0:0 heading into half time.
Tin Shui Wai Pegasus had a strong start early in the second half and almost opened the score. On the 50th minute, Marcos Da Silva picked up the ball on the right wing, then motored into the BC Rangers penalty area and let rip a tight angle shot. However, BC Rangers goalkeeper Oleksii Shliakotin stood tall on the occasion and paved the ball away to safety.
It was still Tin Shui Wai Pegasus afterwards. On the 59th minute, Marcos Da Silva unleashed a cracking free-kick from distance towards the BC Rangers net, forcing a remarkable sprawling save by BC Rangers keeper Oleksii Shliakotin. The game remained scoreless at this stage.
Tin Shui Wai Pegasus broke the stalemate on the 74th minute, as Tse Long-hin whipped an accurate cross towards the BC Rangers box and found teammate Marcos Da Silva. The Brazilian one-timed the ball and sent it to the back of the BC Rangers net, beating goalkeeper Oleksii Shliakotin in the process. Tin Shui Wai Pegasus was up 1:0.
BC Rangers tried to find the equalizer and came close on the 86th minute. Jean Kilama found daylight on the right side of the Tin Shui Wai Pegasus penalty area and sent a ferocious blast towards goal, only to be paved aside by Leung Hing-kit in net.
On the other end, Tin Shui Wai Pegasus made it 2:0 on a counter-attack, as Marcos Da Silva broke behind the BC Rangers defense, went one-on-one against goalkeeper Oleksii Shliakotin and beat the BC Rangers goalkeeper with a clinical finish. The score was now 2:0 for Tin Shui Wai Pegasus.
At the end, Tin Shui Wai Pegasus managed to nurse its two-goal lead towards the final whistle and went on to beat BC Rangers by 2:0.
