|Announcement on 2019-20 BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League and temporary closure of FTC
In view of the latest situation and following advice from our Medical Committee, Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) has suspended all matches with immediate effect. 2019-20 BOC Life Hong Kong Premier League will be postponed for three weeks, until 13 April. In addition, the Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre (FTC) will be temporary closed for two weeks, until 6 April.
HKFA Medical Committee advised that due to a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong over the recent days the situation has changed, the advice is to suspend all matches and review the situation closely before restarting any football competitions organized by the HKFA.
CEO, Mr. Paul Woodland, stated “It is unfortunate that the number of COVID-19 cases has been risen in Hong Kong and HKFA will act on the advice given by the Medical Committee that for the health and safety of players and all other persons at matches. A decision has been made to suspend all matches with immediate effect for a period on three weeks. The Jockey Club HKFA Football Training Centre will also close its doors till advice is given that it is safe to open for limited services for HKPL team training.”
HKFA will further discuss matters with the HKFA Medical Committee and relevant parties and provide an update in due course.
