2019-2020 Jockey Club Women's League (1st Div.) - League Update 2019-10-22

HKFC and Standard Perpetual MLFA gathered in Hong Kong Football Club Ground on Saturday night evening for a crunching battle in the Jockey Club Women’s League (1st Division). HKFC scored in both halves and managed to come out on top with a 2:1 victory over Standard Perpetual MLFA.

HKFC started the game positively and immediately started to pressure the Standard Perpetual MLFA goal with shots from all angles. HKFC Mckenney, Morgan had, not one but two, great scoring chances to put HKFC in front. Unfortunately for the HKFC player, both her chances were turned away by Standard Perpetual MLFA Tang Hoi Yee , Connie in the Standard Perpetual goal.

On the 22nd minute, HKFC’s Andrea Chan teed up the ball nicely for teammate Schaddee Van Dooren, Madison Geri. The latter unloaded but could not find the target with her shot. Standard Perpetual MLFA dodged a bullet on the occasion.

Standard Perpetual MLFA came up with a rare scoring chance on the 36th minute. Dawson, Sienna Jade Margaret did some fabulous work down the left wing before knocking the ball towards the middle. Urabe, Michelle Nuiko came sliding in at the back-post but saw her shot hitting the HKFC goal-post and went out of play.

HKFC managed to bust the game open and took the lead on the 43rd minute, as Condame, Jeannelle Katherine’s thumping free-kick went straight into the top-corner of the Standard Perpetual MLFA goal. The home side was in front 1:0.

In the second-half, HKFC continue to dominate the proceedings. On the 61st minute, Andrea Chan danced past several Standard Perpetual MLFA defenders, made a powerful run into the box and scored. It was a brilliant individual piece of work by the HKFC player. The score was 2:0 with HKFC in front.

On the 83rd minute, Standard Perpetual MLFA managed to pull one back, as Urabe, Michelle Nuiko’s long range effort beat the HKFC goalkeeper and found the back of the net, cutting HKFC’s lead into half.

Both sides failed to add to the score in the remaining regulation time, as HKFC went on to secure a 2:1 victory over Standard Perpetual MLFA.

Elsewhere on the evening, Happy Valley edged Citizen 2:1; Shatin and Kitchee shook hands on a 1:1 draw; Chelsea FC Soccer School (HK) tied Tai Po 1:1.
