2019-2020 Jockey Club Futsal League (Div.2) - League Update 2019-10-21

2019-2020 Jockey Club Futsal League – Division 2B went underway on Tuesday evening in Hoi Sham Park. Sun Hei did just enough on the evening and secured a 1:0 victory over Central & Western, claiming all three points in the process.

Both sides started the game trading chances and the match quickly became a wide-open affair. On the 9th minute, Sun Hei’s Lam Chun-hung pulled the trigger from the middle. The ball took a deflection off a Central & Western player before hitting the back of the net, putting Sun Hei in front 1:0 right towards the interval.

In the second-half, Central & Western tried to mount a comeback but failed to breakdown the Sun Hei defense. Near the end of the game, Central & Western’s Yip Chung-ki and Leung Yiu-shun had successive scoring chances but were both turned away by Sun Hei goalkeeper Lau Heung-fung. At the end, Sun Hei sealed a 1:0 victory over Central & Western and opened its winning account of the season.

Sun Hei’s Wong Lok was understandably encouraged by the team’s positive start to the new season.

“We were able to clinch a victory on a very slippery playing surface, proving that this team indeed has quite a bit of potential. Our players showcased solid skill-level throughout the game and I believe our overall performance will gradually pick up as the team gels better,” Wong offered.

Central & Western goalkeeper Chung Chun-wa was satisfied with the team’s overall performance on the evening, despite the defeat.

“I thought we played quite decent on the evening. Despite falling behind, the boys fought very hard in the game looking for the equalizer and generated quite some scoring chances. Overall, I thought it was a worthy performance from us,” Chung observed.

Two Futsal League – Division C matches were also on hand on the same evening, with Tuen Mun F.C falling short against King Mountain by 2:4, while WSE and Kwai Tsing shook hands on a 3:3 draw.
