2019-2020 Jockey Club Futsal League (Div.1) - League Update 2019-10-09

Week 2 of the Jockey Club Futsal League – Division 1 kicked-off on Thursday evening in Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Centre. Eastern District was in fine form and went on to beat Pak Hei 3:6, collecting all three points in the process.

Pak Hei and Eastern District traded scoring chances in the first-half but failed to break down each other, eventually completing the first twenty minutes in a goalless draw.

In the second-half, both sides upped the tempo and it was Li Ka-chun who opened the score for Eastern District. However, Pak Hei’s answered back with goals from Chung Chun-ho and Lai Chun-wai, securing a one-goal lead. Eastern District then responded and scored successively through Tsang Tsz-hin and Chow Ka-wa (two goals) to regain the lead. While Tse King-cho found the back of the net for Pak Hei in the latter stage to get closer on the scoreboard, goals from To Hon-to and Louis Tsang added to Eastern District’s lead and clinched the team’s 3:6 victory over Pak Hei on the evening.

Pak Hei skipper Tang Wing-yeung acknowledged his side played quite well on the evening, despite the defeat.

“Eastern District was better than us from an experience and ability standpoint, therefore to put them under pressure until the latter stage in the second-half, before getting outscored due to a drop in fitness level, I really cannot ask for anything more from my teammates,” Tang reflected.

Eastern District captain Chow Ka-wa admitted it was an edgy victory for his side but expected the team to continue on its improvements.

“We opened the score in the game and thought we could have cruised to the finishing line. However, we made several careless mistakes, conceded goals and allowed the opponent to crawl back,” Chow commented.

“Thankfully, we were able to dig deep and come up with all three points on the evening, despite doing it in a roller-coaster manner. Hopefully, we can continue to gel, to improve in the season and challenge title-holder Resources Capital for the league champion.”

Later on the same evening, Resources Capital trounced Kwok Keung by 9:0.
